What is vegan

Food made without animal products.

That is the whole definition. No meat, no fish, no dairy, no eggs, no honey. Everything else — the flavour, the comfort, the sitting down together — stays exactly where it was.

In practice

What it means in our kitchen.

Being entirely plant-based is simpler than being partly plant-based. There is nothing to keep separate and nothing to check.

01

Nothing to ask about

There are no animal products anywhere in the building, so every dish on the menu is already suitable. You never have to ask a waiter to check.

02

No cross-contact

One kitchen, one set of pans, one plant-based larder. Nothing shares a surface with meat or dairy because none is here.

03

Allergens are separate

Vegan is not the same as allergen-free. Gluten, nuts, soy and sesame are all still possible — ask us and we will tell you exactly what is in a dish.

Why we chose it

Three reasons, none of them a lecture.

Kindness to animals. The simplest one. Nothing on the plate asks an animal to give anything up.

Lighter on the land. Growing food to eat directly generally asks less of soil, water and air than growing food to feed to animals first.

It tastes good. A plant-based kitchen is a reason to cook more carefully, not less. That is the part we enjoy most.

We would rather say less and be accurate than quote figures we cannot stand behind. If you want numbers, ask us and we will point you at the sources we trust rather than inventing our own.

A little more to know

Curious? You’re welcome.

The questions we are asked most often, answered plainly.

Is Agnista only for vegan customers?

No. Our invitation is for anyone who enjoys good food or wants to explore plant-based choices. We aim to welcome you with flavour, clear information and respect for your preferences.

Will I leave hungry?

No. Plant-based cooking is not the same as small portions. Pulses, grains, nuts and good bread do a great deal of work, and we would rather you left comfortable than polite.

What does “care” mean to Agnista?

It means listening to people, treating animals with kindness and respecting nature. It also means being thoughtful about flavour and honest about the information we share.

Do you use substitutes that pretend to be meat?

Sometimes, where it makes a familiar dish work — the meatball pasta is one. Most of the menu is simply vegetables, pulses and grains cooked properly, and neither approach is treated as more virtuous than the other.
